Barren Fork is a small stream located in Ozark County, Missouri. It is also sometimes called "Barren Fork Creek". This stream is a smaller waterway that eventually flows into a larger one called the Little North Fork White River.

What is Barren Fork?

Barren Fork is a natural waterway, like a small river. It starts in one place and flows to another, joining a bigger body of water. Its name, "Barren Fork," comes from the fact that there used to be very few trees along its banks.

Where Does Barren Fork Flow?

The journey of Barren Fork begins in the headwaters. These are the very first parts of the stream. They are found on the west side of the Caney Mountain Conservation Area. This area is north of a town called Gainesville.

From its start, the stream flows towards the west. It passes by a place called Willhoit. Then, it goes under Missouri Route 5, which is a state highway.

Journey Through the Forest

Barren Fork continues its path into the Mark Twain National Forest. This forest is a large protected area. The stream flows south of Nottinghill within the forest.

Finally, Barren Fork reaches its confluence. A confluence is where two streams or rivers meet and join together. Barren Fork joins the Little North Fork White River north of Isabella. This meeting point is actually inside the waters of Bull Shoals Lake. The usual water level of Bull Shoals Lake at this spot is about 695 feet.
