Journey Through Time: Baxley's History

Baxley started as a small settlement in 1870. This happened when the Macon and Brunswick Railroad was built through Appling County. At first, it was just a train stop called Station Number 7.

Soon after, the community was named Baxley. It was named after Wilson Baxley, who was one of the first people to settle there. Baxley officially became a city in 1875.
