The Beach Cities are three cool cities right by the ocean in Los Angeles County, California. They are called Manhattan Beach, Hermosa Beach, and Redondo Beach. These cities are famous for their amazing beaches and fun activities. They are located south of El Segundo and north of the Palos Verdes Peninsula. These cities cover most of the southern part of Santa Monica Bay. While Torrance also has a small beach area, it's usually not considered one of the main Beach Cities.

What Makes the Beach Cities Special?

The Beach Cities are unique because they are "independently incorporated." This means each city has its own local government. They make their own rules and manage their own services. This allows them to focus on what's best for their residents.

Working Together

Even though they are independent, these three cities work together on some important things. For example, they share public services.

  • The Beach Cities Transit District helps people get around. It even includes the nearby city of El Segundo.
  • The Beach Cities Health District works to keep everyone healthy. They offer programs and services for the community.

Fun Things to Do in the Beach Cities!

The Beach Cities are super popular for their beautiful beaches. They also have cool piers that stretch out into the ocean.

  • You can go swimming, surfing, or bodyboarding in the waves.
  • Many people enjoy just relaxing on the sand.
  • The Marvin Braude Bike Trail is a long path along the beaches. It's perfect for cycling, running, or rollerblading. You can enjoy the ocean views while you exercise!
