About Beatrice Alemagna
Beatrice Alemagna was born in Bologna, Italy, in 1973. She studied art at a special school in Urbino. In 1997, she moved to Paris, France, where she still lives today. For more than ten years, she created posters for the famous Centre Georges Pompidou art museum.
Beatrice Alemagna has won many important awards for her work. Her book On a Magical Do-Nothing Day was named one of the top ten illustrated children's books of 2017 by The New York Times and the New York Public Library. This book also won a Golden Medal from the Society of Illustrators in New York.
In 2010, she received the Andersen Prize for Illustrator of the Year. She was also nominated four times for the Astrid Lindgren Memorial Award, which is a very big honor in children's literature. In 2020, she won Le Prix des Sorcières for her book Things That Go Away. In 2021, she received a Special Jury Award for her book A sbagliare le storie.
Beatrice Alemagna has published over 30 books for children. These books have been translated into many different languages. Some of these languages include Swedish, English, Korean, Japanese, Chinese, Spanish, and German.
Her first book published in the USA was The Wonderful Fluffy Little Squishy in 2015. Other popular books released in the USA include On a Magical Do-Nothing Day (2017), Harold Snipperpot's Best Disaster Ever (2019), Things That Go Away (2020), and Never, Not Ever! (2021).
