Benedetta Tagliabue (born 23 June 1963) is a famous architect from Italy. She lives and works in Barcelona, Spain. Benedetta helped start the international architecture firm EMBT Architects with Enric Miralles. Today, she leads EMBT Architects and is also the president of the Fundació Enric Miralles.

Early Life and Learning
Benedetta Tagliabue was born in Milan, Italy, in 1963. She began studying architecture at the Università Iuav di Venezia in 1981. In 1988, she started working with architecture companies like Transbuilding and Agrest-Gandelsonas in New York. She finished her architecture studies at the Università Iuav di Venezia in 1989.
Her Amazing Career
In 1991, Benedetta won a top prize for her final project at the "Biennal Joves de Barcelona". In 1992, she began working with Enric Miralles (1955–2000), just before the 1992 Summer Olympics in Barcelona.
Starting EMBT Architects
In 1994, Benedetta Tagliabue and Enric Miralles created their own architecture company in Barcelona. It was called Miralles Tagliabue EMBT, and later became Benedetta Tagliabue - EMBT. In 1995, their company won the National Architecture Award of Spain for a boarding school they designed in Morella.
After Enric Miralles passed away in 2000, Benedetta continued their most important projects. She finished the amazing Scottish Parliament Building in Edinburgh and the tall Gas Natural building in Barcelona. She also worked on updating Barcelona's Santa Caterina market.
Benedetta also designed the Spanish Pavilion for the 2010 Shanghai Expo. In 2022, her home was featured on the Apple TV show Home. On the show, she shared how she built and updated her beautiful old villa in Barcelona.
Teaching and Awards
In 2004, Benedetta Tagliabue received a special honorary degree from Napier University. She is also a member of the Royal Incorporation of Architects in Scotland.
Benedetta teaches architecture at the ETSAB in Barcelona. She often gives talks at architecture events around the world. She has also been a judge for important awards like the Pritzker Architecture Prize and the Stirling Prize.
