Bernard Wright (born November 16, 1963 – died May 19, 2022) was a talented American funk and jazz keyboard player and singer. He started his music journey as a session musician, playing for other artists. Later, he released four of his own albums.

About Bernard Wright
Bernard Wright was born in Jamaica, Queens, New York. His mother was Lessie Wright, and the famous singer Roberta Flack was his godmother.
Early Life and Music Career
Bernard went to the High School of Performing Arts in New York. This is a special school for young artists. When he was just 13 years old, he got a chance to tour with musician Lenny White. By age 16, he was playing with Tom Browne. This shows how talented he was from a young age!
In 1981, a record company called GRP Records signed him. He released his first album, 'Nard, that year. Some songs from this album were later used by famous artists like Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg, Skee-Lo, and LL Cool J. This means parts of his music were used to create new hit songs!
He released more albums, including Funky Beat in 1983 and Mr. Wright in 1985. His song "Who Do You Love" became his biggest hit on the R&B music charts. A music video was even made for this song.
Bernard also released several gospel albums, which are albums with religious music. These included Fresh Hymns (1990), Brand New Gospel Format (1991), and Fresh Hymns II (1992). He also worked with Japanese musician Sadao Watanabe on an album in 1997. In 2000, he formed a music group with Alfredo Elias and Damon Banks and released the album Back To Our Roots.
Working with Other Artists
Bernard Wright played on many recordings for other musicians. Some of the well-known artists he worked with include Doug E. Fresh, Cameo, Bobby Brown, Pieces of a Dream, and even the legendary Miles Davis.
Later in his life, Bernard continued to play keyboards in Dallas, Texas. He also helped and guided younger artists, sharing his knowledge and experience with them.
Bernard Wright passed away on May 19, 2022, at the age of 58. He was married to Anita Wright for almost 40 years and had three children: Bernard Jr., Christopher, and Victoria.
