Big Slide is a famous mountain in the Adirondack Park in New York State. It's one of the tallest mountains in the park, ranking as the twenty-seventh highest peak. This area is known as the High Peaks Region. The mountain got its name because of a very steep, rocky cliff on its side that looks like a giant "slide." You can find Big Slide Mountain in the High Peaks Wilderness Area, which is a special protected natural space.

The Brothers Trail
The most popular way to climb Big Slide is by following a path called the Brothers. This trail goes over a series of rocky spots. As you hike along the Brothers, you'll find several places with incredible views. These viewpoints are perfect for taking photos and enjoying the scenery on your way to the top of the mountain.
Other Ways to Reach the Summit
While the Brothers trail is a favorite, there are other ways to hike Big Slide Mountain. You can also climb it using the Slide Mountain Brook Trail. This path starts from the Phelps trail, which is located in Johns Brook Valley. Another option is to combine your hike with Yard Mountain. Yard Mountain is nearby and stands at 4018 feet tall. However, it's not considered one of the official High Peaks because it's very close to Big Slide.
