Bijbehara (also called Vejibror in Kashmiri) is a town in the Anantnag district of Jammu and Kashmir, India. It is located right on NH 44 and next to the Jhelum River.
Bijbehara is often called the "Town of Chinars." This is because it has many beautiful Chinar trees, especially in two special gardens called Paadshaahi Bagh and Dara Shikoh Garden. The town is also home to the oldest Chinar tree in the entire region! Bijbehara is about 45 kilometers (28 miles) from Srinagar, which is the summer capital of Jammu and Kashmir.

What's in a Name?
The name Bijbehara comes from an old Sanskrit word, Vijayeshwar. Long ago, it was a special place for a temple dedicated to Shiva Vijayeshwar.

Bijbehara is located at 33.80° North latitude and 75.10° East longitude. It sits about 1,591 meters (5,223 feet) above sea level. The town is north of the main district city and right on the banks of the Jhelum River, which locals call "Veth."
The town is surrounded by flat-topped hills called plateaus. From a plateau called Totak Shah, you can see the whole town! Many of these plateaus are now becoming new parts of the town with houses and buildings.
Bijbehara has many different areas, including Goriwan Chowk, Old Town, Ziyarat Road, and New Colony Bijbehara.

Bijbehara has been home to several notable people:
