Discovering Bleiblerville's Past
Bleiblerville got its name from a man named Robert Bleibler. He was an immigrant from Switzerland who moved to the area. In the late 1880s, Robert Bleibler opened a general store, a post office, and even a saloon.
How Bleiblerville Grew and Changed
The community quickly grew when many German immigrants arrived in the late 1800s. A post office was officially set up in 1891. In 1900, a man named Theodore Wehring ran a cotton gin there. This machine helped separate cotton fibers.
The population of Bleiblerville changed over time. In 1904, about 101 people lived there, and by 1925, it grew to 150. In the 1960s, the community saw a boost when oil drilling increased. This brought more people, and in 1966, the population reached 225 residents. However, the number of residents later went down to 71 by 1972 and stayed around that level through 2000. Even though it's unincorporated, Bleiblerville still has its own post office with the ZIP code 78931.
