Staying Safe in the Mountains

When exploring places like the Wind River Range, it's super important to be prepared and stay safe. The mountains are beautiful, but they can also be challenging.

Things to Watch Out For

  • Wildlife: You might see amazing animals like bears. Always know what to do if you encounter wildlife.
  • Bugs: Sometimes there are lots of bugs, especially mosquitoes. Bug spray can be your friend!
  • Weather: Mountain weather can change very quickly. Be ready for snow even in summer, and remember that nighttime temperatures can get very cold.
  • Wildfires: In dry conditions, wildfires can be a risk. Always follow rules about campfires.

Being Careful on Trails

Hiking and climbing in the mountains can be exciting. However, it's important to be careful, especially on steep or rocky paths. Always watch your step to avoid falls. Also, be aware of your surroundings for falling rocks, especially if you are climbing or if others are above you.

Always go with experienced adults and make sure you have the right gear for your adventure. It's always best to be safe and enjoy the amazing outdoors responsibly!
