Boyertown is a small town, also called a borough, in Berks County, Pennsylvania, United States. In 2020, about 4,264 people lived there. Boyertown is famous for the many colorful fiberglass bears that you can find all around the town.

History of Boyertown
Boyertown got its name from its founders, two brothers named Henry and Daniel Boyer. A post office opened in the town way back in 1828.
In 1908, a very sad event happened in Boyertown: the Rhoads Opera House fire. This was a big fire at a building called the Rhoads Opera House.
Where is Boyertown?
Boyertown is located in the southeastern part of Berks County. It is surrounded by Colebrookdale Township on three sides and touches Douglass Township in Montgomery County to the southeast.
The town has a climate with hot summers. The average temperature in January is about 30 degrees Fahrenheit, and in July, it's around 74.7 degrees Fahrenheit. Boyertown covers an area of about 2.0 square kilometers (or 0.77 square miles), and all of it is land.

Getting Around Boyertown

Pennsylvania Route 73 (also called Philadelphia Avenue) is the main road that goes east and west through Boyertown. It can take you towards Schwenksville and Northeast Philadelphia to the east, or towards Blandon and Reading to the northwest.
Pennsylvania Route 562 (Reading Avenue) goes west towards Reading. Pennsylvania Route 100 goes around the eastern edge of Boyertown. It can take you north to Macungie (near Allentown) or south to Pottstown.
There's also a railroad line that goes south from Boyertown to Pottstown. This line is used by the Colebrookdale Railroad, which is a fun tourist train, and also by the Eastern Berks Gateway Railroad for carrying goods.
