Brian Demond Waters (born February 18, 1977) is a former American football player. He played as an offensive guard in the National Football League (NFL). Brian Waters played college football for the North Texas Mean Green. He was signed by the Dallas Cowboys in 1999. Waters spent most of his career with the Kansas City Chiefs. He also played for the New England Patriots. He was chosen for the Pro Bowl six times during his career.

Early Life and High School Football
Brian Waters was born in Waxahachie, Texas. He went to Waxahachie High School. In high school, he was a star player in football. As a senior, he was named All-District. He played both tight end on offense and defensive end on defense. On offense, he caught 16 passes for 380 yards. On defense, he made five sacks and 66 tackles.
College Football Career
Waters attended the University of North Texas. He played for the North Texas Mean Green football team. For his first three years, he played tight end. He caught 86 passes for 975 yards and scored nine touchdowns. In his senior year, he moved to defensive end. He also played as a backup fullback and tight end. As a defensive player, he had 45 tackles and 5 sacks.
Professional Football Journey
Starting with the Dallas Cowboys
The Dallas Cowboys signed Brian Waters in 1999. He joined them as an undrafted free agent. This means he was not chosen in the NFL draft. The Cowboys wanted him to play tight end and fullback. However, he was released from the team during their training camp.
Years with the Kansas City Chiefs
The Kansas City Chiefs signed Waters in 2000. They sent him to play for the Berlin Thunder in NFL Europe. The Chiefs planned to change his position to center.
Waters became a very important player for the Chiefs. He was named an All-Pro twice. He was also selected to the Pro Bowl five times with the Chiefs. In 2003, he was part of a Chiefs team that won 13 games. In 2004, Waters was named the AFC Offensive Player of the Week. This was for his great play against the Atlanta Falcons. The Chiefs scored eight rushing touchdowns in that game. Waters was the only offensive lineman in the AFC to win this award. He was also the only lineman in the NFL to win it since 1992.
In 2009, Waters received the Walter Payton Man of the Year Award. This award honors players for their skills on the field. It also recognizes their good work off the field. In 2011, his fellow players ranked him 67th among the top 100 NFL players. After 11 seasons, the Chiefs released him on July 28, 2011.
Playing for the New England Patriots
On September 4, 2011, Waters signed with the New England Patriots. He started every game at right guard for the Patriots. He was chosen to start in the 2012 Pro Bowl. Before 2011, Waters had never won a playoff game. With the Patriots, he played in Super Bowl XLVI.
Before the 2012 season, Waters decided not to report to the Patriots. He said he would only play in 2012 for a team close to his family in Texas. The Patriots released him from his contract on April 30, 2013.
Return to the Dallas Cowboys
The Dallas Cowboys signed Waters again on September 3, 2013. He signed a one-year contract with them.
Retirement from Football
Brian Waters announced that he was retiring from football on September 2, 2014.
