Bruce Anthony Buffer (born May 21, 1957) is a famous American ring announcer. He is best known as the official voice for the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) events. People often call him the "Veteran Voice of the Octagon." His most famous line is "It's time!", which he shouts before the main fight of a UFC event.
Bruce is the half-brother of Michael Buffer, who is also a well-known ring announcer for boxing and wrestling. Together, they run a company called The Buffer Partnership. Bruce also has a black belt in Tang Soo Do and used to be a kickboxer.

Bruce Buffer's Early Life and Martial Arts
Bruce first started learning martial arts when he was thirteen years old. He lived in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and studied judo, earning a green belt.
When he was fifteen, his family moved to Malibu, California. There, he met two students of the famous martial artist Chuck Norris. They introduced Bruce to Tang Soo Do, a Korean martial art. Bruce now holds a second-degree black belt in Tang Soo Do.
In his twenties, Bruce began kickboxing. However, he had to stop the sport at age 32. This was because he suffered two concussions, which are serious head injuries.
Bruce Buffer and the UFC
Bruce Buffer began his journey with the UFC in 1996. He first announced a preliminary fight at UFC 8. Later, he announced all the fights at UFC 10.
In 1997, Bruce appeared as himself on the TV show Friends. He was in an episode called "The One with the Ultimate Fighting Champion." During this time, he convinced the UFC owner to hire him as the full-time ring announcer. He officially started this role at UFC 13.
Bruce's Signature Moves
Bruce is known for his special catchphrases and moves during UFC events. One of his most famous moves is called the "Buffer 180." Before introducing a fighter, he motions across the Octagon. Then, he quickly spins 180 degrees and points to the fighter's corner.
He often does smaller turns, like 45-degree or 90-degree turns, before the "Buffer 180." He saves the full "Buffer 180" for the main events and co-main events. At UFC 100, he even performed a "Buffer 360" for a special fight.
Bruce also has a move called the "Buffer Bow." He used this only for two legendary fighters, Randy Couture and Anderson Silva. He would bend down, like a knight bowing to a king.
Other Appearances and Activities
Besides the UFC, Bruce Buffer has announced for other mixed martial arts (MMA) events around the world. He has also announced for K-1 events and some boxing matches. He is also the announcer for the ADCC (Abu Dhabi Combat Club) submission wrestling tournament.
Poker Player
Bruce Buffer is also a skilled poker player. He has played in professional poker tournaments. He even appeared on ESPN's World Series of Poker Main Event show. In 2005, he reached the Final Table of the World Poker Tour.
He also played in a special MMA versus poker pro match on the show Poker After Dark. Bruce finished second in that game. In 2010, he was given the honor of starting the World Series of Poker main event final table. He said the famous poker phrase, "Shuffle up and deal!" The Luxor Las Vegas casino even named their poker room after him.

Bruce has made appearances in several TV shows and movies.

His voice has been used in video games too. He is an announcer pack in the games Smite and Paladins. He is also a playable character in the fighting game EA Sports UFC 3.
He even provided announcing for a song called "It's Time" by DJs Steve Aoki and Laidback Luke. In 2019, a company released a video slot machine game named "It's Time" that featured Bruce.
In 2021, Bruce became the official announcer for the PlayStation 5 video game Destruction AllStars. In September 2021, he announced for an NFL Monday Night Football game. In 2022, he introduced comedian Andrew Schulz at a stand-up comedy special.
Bruce Buffer's Personal Life
In 1989, Bruce met his half-brother, Michael Buffer. Their birth father contacted Michael after seeing him on television. In the mid-1990s, Bruce started working as Michael's agent and manager.
They then created their own company, The Buffer Partnership. They work together to grow their business through licensing and appearances.
