Bryan Greenberg, born on May 24, 1978, is an American actor. He is well-known for playing Ben Epstein in the HBO series How to Make It in America. He also had a regular role in The Mindy Project. You might also know him as Jake Jagielski from the WB series One Tree Hill. He also played Nick Garrett in the ABC show October Road. Bryan has been in movies like The Perfect Score, Prime, Bride Wars, and Friends with Benefits. In 2024, he directed his first movie, Junction.

Early Life and Education

Bryan Greenberg was born in Omaha, Nebraska, in the United States. His parents, Denise and Carl Greenberg, are both psychologists. Bryan grew up in a Jewish family and attended Beth El Synagogue. He had a Bar Mitzvah ceremony and was part of Jewish youth groups. He also went to Jewish summer camps where he enjoyed acting in plays. He even traveled to Israel.

First Acting Experiences

When Bryan was seven years old, he played the main role in the Omaha Ballet's show The Nutcracker. He toured with this show for two months. After that, he joined a children's theater group in Omaha. When he was 12, his family moved to St. Louis, Missouri. There, he got his first big acting job in a national TV commercial for Cookie Crisp cereal.

High School and College

Bryan graduated from Parkway Central High School in Chesterfield, Missouri, in 1996. After high school, he moved to New York City. He then studied at New York University and earned a degree in Theatre in 2000.

In 2012, Bryan starred with Laura Prepon in the movie The Kitchen. That same year, he was in The Normals. This movie is about a young man who joins a two-week study for a new treatment. In 2007, Bryan Greenberg released his first music album, called Waiting for Now. He has toured with other musicians like Gavin DeGraw and Ari Hest. During a show in New York City, his How to Make It in America co-star Kid Cudi joined him on stage. Bryan's songs have also been used in many of his own movies and TV shows. These include One Tree Hill, October Road, and Nobel Son.

In 2011, he released his second album, We Don't Have Forever. This album included the song "Walk Away." It also featured "You Can Run," a song he worked on with Kid Cudi. Bryan shared that he wrote the songs for this album over two years. During this time, he was going through many changes in his life. He chose the title We Don't Have Forever to show that feeling.

Personal Life

Bryan Greenberg started dating actress Jamie Chung in 2012. They got engaged in December 2013. They were married on October 31, 2015, in Santa Barbara, California. In October 2021, they welcomed their twin sons, who were born via surrogacy. In January 2025, Bryan and Jamie's house in Los Angeles was destroyed by a wildfire.

Other Activities

  • In 2008, Bryan appeared in will.i.am's song "Yes We Can."
  • In 2010, he made a public service announcement about the Gulf Oil Spill. He called for cleaner energy laws. This message was released in July 2010.
