Bryan Greenberg (born May 24, 1978) is an American actor. He is famous for his roles in TV shows like How to Make It in America on HBO and The Mindy Project. He also played Jake Jagielski in One Tree Hill and Nick Garrett in October Road. Bryan has also been in movies such as The Perfect Score, Prime, Bride Wars, and Friends with Benefits. In 2024, he directed his first film, Junction.

Early Life and First Roles
Bryan Greenberg was born in Omaha, Nebraska, U.S. His parents, Denise and Carl Greenberg, were psychologists. Bryan grew up in a Jewish family and was involved in Jewish youth groups and summer camps. He even traveled to Israel.
When he was seven years old, Bryan got his first chance to act. He played the main role in the Omaha Ballet's show The Nutcracker. He toured with the show for two months and then joined a children's theater group in Omaha.
At age 12, Bryan and his family moved to St. Louis, Missouri. Soon after, he landed his first national acting job in a Cookie Crisp cereal commercial. This opened the door for more acting opportunities.
He finished high school at Parkway Central High School in Chesterfield, Missouri in 1996. After high school, Bryan moved to New York City. He also worked at Herzl Camp, a Jewish summer camp in Wisconsin, where he starred as Joseph in a play called Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat in 1992.
Bryan went on to study theater at New York University, earning his degree in 2000.
Acting Career Highlights
While studying at NYU, Bryan worked different jobs like waiting tables and bartending to support himself. He also performed in plays, including playing Romeo in Romeo and Juliet at NYU.
In 1997, he got a small part in the TV show Law & Order. After this, he found an agent and made his first movie appearance in A Civil Action a year later.
Bryan had small roles in several TV series like Boston Public, The Sopranos, and Third Watch. Then, he was cast as Matty Matthews in the movie The Perfect Score, where he played a high school student trying to pass a big exam. After graduating from NYU, Bryan moved to California. While still working on One Tree Hill, he also started filming another TV show called Unscripted, which was produced by George Clooney for HBO.
Bryan's first main role in a movie was in Prime (2005). He played David Bloomberg, a young artist who falls in love with a patient of his mother's, played by Uma Thurman. Later, Bryan starred in the ABC show October Road. In 2008, he appeared with Alan Rickman in the film Nobel Son.
In 2009, Bryan was in the movie Bride Wars with Kate Hudson and Anne Hathaway. He also starred in the independent film The Good Guy, which came out in 2010.
His TV series How to Make It in America started on HBO in 2010. This show was praised for showing a lively and diverse New York City. It also had great music, including the theme song "I Need a Dollar" by Aloe Blacc. The show ran for two seasons.
In 2012, Bryan starred in the comedy film The Kitchen with Laura Prepon. That same year, he was in the dark comedy The Normals.
In 2015, Bryan and his wife, Jamie Chung, starred together in the romantic drama Already Tomorrow in Hong Kong. In 2024, Bryan joined the cast of Suits: L.A..
Music Career
Bryan Greenberg is also a musician. In 2007, he released his first album called Waiting for Now. He has toured with other musicians like Gavin DeGraw and Ari Hest. At one of his shows in New York City, his How to Make it in America co-star Kid Cudi joined him on stage. Bryan's songs have been used in many of his own movies and TV shows, including One Tree Hill and October Road.
In 2011, he released his second album, We Don't Have Forever. This album included the song "Walk Away" and a collaboration with Kid Cudi called "You Can Run." Bryan said he wrote the songs for this album during a time of many changes in his life.
Personal Life
In 2012, Bryan Greenberg started dating actress Jamie Chung. They got engaged in December 2013 and were married on October 31, 2015, in Santa Barbara, California. In October 2021, they welcomed their twin sons, who were born via surrogacy.
In January 2025, Bryan and Jamie's house in Los Angeles was destroyed by a wildfire.
