William Joel "Bucky" Covington III (born November 8, 1977) is an American country music singer. He became well-known after appearing on the 5th season of the TV show American Idol. He finished in eighth place on the show.
After American Idol, Bucky signed a music deal with Lyric Street Records in December 2006. His first album, called Bucky Covington, came out on April 17, 2007. This album was a big success, reaching number one on the Billboard Top Country Albums chart. It also had three popular songs: "A Different World", "It's Good to Be Us", and "I'll Walk". Later, he released more songs that were included on his 2012 album, Good Guys.

Early Life and Family
William Joel "Bucky" Covington was born in Rockingham, North Carolina, on November 8, 1977. He has an identical twin brother named Robert David "Rocky" Covington. Bucky's nickname comes from his grandfather, "Buck".
He finished high school in 1996 in Laurinburg, North Carolina. Before becoming a singer, he worked at a body shop in his hometown.
Starting His Music Journey
When Bucky was 18, he taught himself to play the guitar. Soon after, he started performing in clubs. He can also play the bass guitar and drums, and he writes songs. Over the years, Bucky has explored both country and rock styles. His brother Rocky is also a musician and used to be the lead singer for a band called Swamp Cat.
In 1998, Bucky and Rocky were involved in a small car incident. After American Idol, Bucky bought a house in Franklin, Tennessee, near Nashville, where he lived with Rocky and Rocky's wife. Rocky also joined Bucky's band as the drummer. Bucky became engaged to Katherine Cook in 2011. On October 10, 2014, Bucky and Katherine welcomed their daughter, Kennedy Taylor Covington.
Bucky's Time on American Idol
In 2005, Bucky and his twin brother Rocky both tried out for American Idol in Greensboro, North Carolina. Bucky was the one who made it to the final twelve contestants. He performed several songs during the competition.

Music Career After Idol
First Album: Bucky Covington
After American Idol, Bucky Covington went on a Christmas tour with GAC Country Music in late 2006. His first song, "A Different World", was released to country radio on January 16, 2007.
His first album, Bucky Covington, was released on April 17, 2007. It received good reviews and sold 61,000 copies in its first week. The album reached number one on the Top Country Albums chart. This was the best start for a male artist's first album on that chart since Billy Ray Cyrus's album in 1992. The album had three hit songs: "A Different World" (which reached number six), "It's Good to Be Us" (number eleven), and "I'll Walk" (number ten).
Later Albums and Songs
In January 2009, Bucky started working on his second album, which was planned to be called I'm Alright. The first song from this project, "I Want My Life Back", came out in April 2009. He also released a cover of Nickelback's song "Gotta Be Somebody" in October 2009. The third song, "A Father's Love (The Only Way He Knew How)", was released in March 2010.
His record label, Lyric Street Records, closed down in April 2010. Bucky then signed with E1 Music in October 2011. He released his second studio album, Good Guys, on September 11, 2012. This album included songs like "I Wanna Be That Feeling" and "Drinking Side of Country".
