Cabonne Council is a special area in the Central West part of New South Wales, Australia. It's like a local government area, which means it has its own council that helps manage things for the people living there.
The Cabonne area is near the Mitchell Highway and a railway line. It partly surrounds the City of Orange. The main office for the council is in a town called Molong.
In 2016, about 13,860 people lived in the Cabonne area. A big part of the local economy is farming. More than half of the businesses here are related to agriculture.

A Look Back in Time
The Cabonne area has an interesting history. The very first gold rush in Australia happened at a place called Ophir, which is within the Cabonne Shire today.
The Cabonne Shire Council was officially formed in 1978. This happened when three smaller councils – Molong Shire, Boree Shire, and most of Canobolas Shire – joined together.
In 2015, there was a plan to combine Cabonne Shire with Orange City and Blayney Shire Councils. However, the government decided not to go ahead with these plans, so Cabonne remains its own council area.
What Cabonne is Known For
Cabonne Shire is home to some important industries. One of the biggest is the Manildra Group flour mill. This huge mill, which processes grain into flour, is located in the town of Manildra. It's one of the largest flour mills in the world!
