Caldbeck is a small village in Cumbria, England. It is located inside the beautiful Lake District National Park. In 2001, about 714 people lived here. Caldbeck is known for its peaceful countryside and links to famous people.
The village is quite close to Hesket Newmarket, which is about 1.5 miles (2.4 km) to the east. The nearest town is Wigton, about 7.8 miles (12.6 km) north-west. Carlisle is 13.8 miles (22.2 km) north, and Penrith is 15.7 miles (25.3 km) to the east.
Caldbeck's local church is named after St. Kentigern. The closest mountain, or 'fell', is High Pike.

What's in a Name?
The name "Caldbeck" means "the cold stream." It comes from two old words: "kaldr," which means "cold," and "bekkr," meaning "stream." This "bekkr" word is very common in the Lake District. It is used in about 200 stream names there.
Broadcasting Stations
Caldbeck Transmitting Station
The Caldbeck transmitting station is a tall tower located about 2 miles (3.2 km) outside the village. This station is 1,106 feet (337 meters) high. It broadcasts television and radio signals. These signals reach most of northern Cumbria and south-west Scotland.
Sandale Transmitting Station
Another broadcasting station, the Sandale transmitting station, is also located a bit further away from Caldbeck village.
