Carly Rae Jepsen (born November 21, 1985) is a Canadian singer and songwriter. She became famous after appearing on Canadian Idol in 2007. Her music often mixes pop, disco, and folk styles.
Carly Rae Jepsen's big break came in 2012 with her hit song "Call Me Maybe". This song became the best-selling single of that year worldwide. It reached number one in over 19 countries. Growing Up and Starting Music
Carly Rae Jepsen was born on November 21, 1985, in Mission, British Columbia, Canada. She was the second of three children. From a young age, she loved musical theatre. She acted in school plays like Annie and Grease.
After high school, Carly Rae Jepsen went to the Canadian College of Performing Arts. She was one of only 25 female students accepted into the program in 2004. After finishing college, she moved to Vancouver. She worked different jobs, like a barista and a bartender, while writing songs in her free time.

The Success of "Call Me Maybe"
In 2011, Carly Rae Jepsen recorded new songs, including "Call Me Maybe". This song was released in September 2011. Fellow Canadian singer Justin Bieber helped promote the song. This led to Carly Rae Jepsen signing a big record deal with Schoolboy Records and Interscope Records.
