Carla Bruni is a famous singer, songwriter, and former fashion model. She was also the First Lady of France from 2008 to 2012. This was when she was married to the French President, Nicolas Sarkozy.
Carla was born in Italy and moved to France when she was seven years old. She worked as a model from 1987 to 1997. After that, she started a career in music. She wrote songs for other artists, like Julien Clerc. Carla released her first album, Quelqu'un m'a dit, in 2003. It was very popular in France. Carla Bruni was born in Turin, Italy, on December 23, 1967. Her legal parents are Marisa Borini, a concert pianist, and Alberto Bruni Tedeschi, an industrialist and composer. In 2008, Carla shared that her biological father is Maurizio Remmert, a classical guitarist.
Carla has a sister named Valeria Bruni Tedeschi, who is an actress and film director. Her brother, Virginio Bruni Tedeschi, passed away in 2006. Carla's family moved to France in 1975. They moved to avoid threats from a group called the Red Brigades in Italy. Carla grew up in France from the age of seven. She studied art and architecture in Paris but left school at 19 to become a model.

Music Career Begins (1997–2005)
In 1997, Carla decided to leave modelling to focus on music. She started writing songs. In 1999, she sent her lyrics to Julien Clerc, who used six of her songs on his 2000 album.
Her first album, Quelqu'un m'a dit, came out in 2003. It was a big success, selling two million copies. Songs from this album were used in movies and TV shows. In 2005, she also wrote lyrics for 10 songs on Louis Bertignac's album Longtemps. She sang two duets on that album.

Carla continued making music after she married. Her third album, Comme si de rien n'était, was released in 2008. She wrote most of the songs on it. The money from this album was given to charity.
In 2009, Carla sang for Nelson Mandela's 91st birthday in New York City. She also recorded a duet with Harry Connick, Jr. for his album Your Songs. They sang The Beatles' song "And I Love Her".
