Chandolin is a charming village nestled high in the Valais canton of Switzerland. It is located in the Sierre district. Once an independent village, Chandolin joined with several nearby villages on January 1, 2009. These villages, including Ayer, Grimentz, Saint Jean, Saint-Luc, and Vissoie, all came together to form a new, larger municipality called Anniviers.

A Look Back in Time
Chandolin was first mentioned around the year 1250. Back then, it was known as Eschandulyns. A famous Swiss travel writer named Ella Maillart made Chandolin her home. She lived there until she passed away. Today, there is a museum in Chandolin dedicated to her memory. It's called the Ella Maillart Museum.
