Chloë Hanslip was born in Guildford, Surrey, England. She started playing the violin when she was only two years old. Imagine that! By the time she was four, she was already performing by herself at the Purcell Room.

When Chloë was five, she played for the famous violinist Yehudi Menuhin. He was so impressed that he invited her to study at the Yehudi Menuhin School. There, she learned from a great teacher named Natasha Boyarskaya.

Early Performances and Training

By the age of ten, Chloë had already performed in many big concert halls. These included places all over Europe and North America. She played at famous venues like Carnegie Hall in New York City. She also performed at the Royal Albert Hall in London.

In 1995, she began studying in Germany. Her teacher was Professor Zakhar Bron. He also taught other famous violinists like Maxim Vengerov and Vadim Repin. Chloë also took special lessons called masterclasses. She received advice from other amazing violinists. These included Shlomo Mintz, Ida Haendel, and Maxim Vengerov.

Chloë in Documentaries and Film

In 1997, Chloë was featured in a TV show in Germany. She appeared with Igor Oistrakh and Professor Bron. She was also in a BBC documentary called Can You Make A Genius?. This show was on BBC1 in 2001.

Chloë even acted in a movie! She played a young violin genius in the film Onegin. She appeared alongside actors Ralph Fiennes and Liv Tyler.

Recording Albums and Awards

When she was 13, Chloë became the youngest musician to sign with Warner Classics UK. This is a big record company! Her first album came out in September 2001. She recorded it with the London Symphony Orchestra. Many people loved her debut album.

Her second album was released in 2002. On this album, she played music by Max Bruch. She performed his Violin Concertos No. 1 and No. 3. Again, she played with the London Symphony Orchestra.

Chloë Hanslip has won many awards for her violin playing. She won first prize in a competition in Novosibirsk, Russia. This led to concerts in Russia, France, and Japan. In 2000, she received a special award from the Sibelius Foundation in Finland. This is one of Finland's highest honors.

In 2002, she won the Echo Klassik Award. This was for Best Young Artist for her first album, "Chloë." In 2003, she also won the Classical Brits Young Performer award.

Special Performances

In July 2001, Chloë gave a private concert. It was at Frogmore House in Windsor. She performed for Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh. In December 2001, she played at St. James's Palace. This performance was for Princess Anne.

Chloë was invited to play for the Duke of Edinburgh again. This happened in May 2002 at the Old Royal Naval College in Greenwich.

Concerts and Orchestras

In October 2001, Chloë performed at the Royal Albert Hall. She played with the Philharmonia Orchestra. At New Year, she played Mendelssohn's Concerto in E minor. She was the main soloist with the London Symphony Orchestra.

She also performed Bruch's Concerto No. 1 with other orchestras. These included the London Mozart Players and the City of London Sinfonia. She later played with The Royal Liverpool Philharmonic and the Royal Scottish National Orchestra. In 2003, she made her first concerto performance in Japan. She played with the Tokyo Philharmonic.

In 2017, Chloë Hanslip became the first Artist in Association. This was with the Northern Chamber Orchestra.

Chloë plays a very special violin. It was made in 1737 by Guarneri del Gesù.
