Chris Beal, born on August 6, 1985, is an American mixed martial artist. He used to compete in the Bantamweight division of the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC).

About Chris Beal

Chris Beal grew up in Ventura, California. He was a talented wrestler at Ventura High School. He even placed second in the state championship for freestyle wrestling. He also won a CIF championship, which is a big deal in high school sports.

After high school, Chris went to Junior College for two years. He attended Moorpark College and Ventura College. In 2006, he saw a friend compete in a mixed martial arts fight. This inspired him to start training in MMA himself.

Chris's MMA Journey

Starting His Career

Chris Beal began his professional MMA career on July 3, 2009. His first fight was against Andrew Dominquez, and Chris won by decision. He continued his winning streak with another decision victory in October 2009.

Fighting in BAMMA USA

In 2011, Chris started fighting for BAMMA USA. He won his first fight there by a split decision. He kept winning, extending his record to 2–0 in BAMMA. In March 2012, he won a fight by TKO (Technical Knockout) in the first round. This means the referee stopped the fight because his opponent couldn't safely continue.

Chris continued to win his fights in BAMMA USA. He won two more fights by unanimous decision. After these wins, he took a break to join a special TV show called The Ultimate Fighter. After the show, he returned to BAMMA USA and won another fight by TKO.

On The Ultimate Fighter Show

In August 2013, Chris Beal joined the 18th season of The Ultimate Fighter. This show features up-and-coming fighters who compete for a chance to join the UFC. The coaches for his season were famous fighters Miesha Tate and Ronda Rousey.

To get into the show's house, Chris had to fight Sirwan Kakai. He won this fight by unanimous decision. Because of his strong performance, Chris was the first male fighter chosen for Team Rousey.

Later in the show, Chris faced Chris Holdsworth. Unfortunately, Chris Beal lost this fight in the first round by a submission move called a guillotine choke.

Fighting in the UFC

Even though he was eliminated from The Ultimate Fighter, the UFC saw Chris's talent and signed him. He made his first UFC appearance on April 26, 2014, at UFC 172. He fought Patrick Williams and won with an amazing flying knee knockout in the second round! This impressive win earned him a "Performance of the Night" bonus.

For his next UFC fight in September 2014, Chris was supposed to fight Rob Font. But Font got injured. Then, he was briefly set to fight Dustin Kimura, who also pulled out. Finally, he fought Tateki Matsuda and won by unanimous decision.

In January 2015, Chris fought Neil Seery in a flyweight bout. It was a close fight, but Chris lost by unanimous decision. He then faced Chris Kelades in August 2015 and lost by split decision.

Chris was scheduled to fight Norifumi Yamamoto in June 2016. However, Yamamoto was injured, and Joe Soto stepped in. Chris lost this fight by submission in the third round. After this loss, he was released from the UFC.

After the UFC

After leaving the UFC, Chris continued to compete in other promotions. He faced Alfred Khashakyan and John Castañeda, losing both fights by TKO.

In 2022, Chris had a record of one win and one loss on the regional fighting scene. His last fight was against Josh Rettinghouse at XMMA 5 on July 23, 2022. Chris lost this fight in the first round by knockout.
