Christopher Van Vliet (born May 19, 1983) is a Canadian TV and radio host, and a popular YouTuber. He grew up in Pickering, Ontario, Canada. Today, he lives in Studio City, Los Angeles.

Chris is known for his work as an entertainment reporter. He works for the FOX channel WSVN in Miami on a show called Deco Drive. Before this, he worked in Cleveland at WOIO and on the radio station WDOK. In Canada, he was a co-host for the show Inside Jam! on Sun TV. He also co-hosted the 969 program on Razer, which is now MTV2.

Chris Van Vliet is part of the Critics Choice Association. He also has a very popular YouTube channel where he interviews famous people and professional wrestlers. He has even worked as a backstage interviewer for All Elite Wrestling (AEW) on their show AEW Dynamite.

Chris Van Vliet's Early Life and Education

Chris Van Vliet was born in Pickering, Ontario. He went to Pine Ridge Secondary School there. Later, he studied at Wilfrid Laurier University in Waterloo, Ontario. He completed a program focused on communication studies.

While at university, Chris worked at Rogers Community Television and AM570 News. His first job on TV was as a news reporter and videographer for CHEX-TV in Peterborough, Ontario. Chris has family roots from the Netherlands and Macedonia.

Chris's Career in Television

Hosting 969 and Razer News

After his first job in Peterborough, Chris Van Vliet moved to Vancouver, British Columbia. There, he became a host and producer for Razer Television. This channel later became MTV2. He worked on their show called 969. This show was on air from November 2004 until it ended in 2007. During this time, he also hosted Razer News, which was a show about celebrity news. In 2007, TV Week Magazine readers voted Chris as the third most popular TV personality in Vancouver.

Co-hosting Inside Jam!

After 969, Chris went back to Toronto. He became a co-host for the show Inside Jam! on Sun TV with Tara Slone. This show was originally a daily entertainment news program that lasted an hour. Later, it changed to a one-hour show on Saturdays. Eventually, Inside Jam! became a half-hour show on Saturdays and Sundays.

Working at WOIO in Cleveland

In February 2010, Chris announced he was leaving Inside Jam!. He had accepted a job as an entertainment reporter at CBS channel WOIO in Cleveland, Ohio. In April 2010, Inside Edition named him one of Cleveland's most attractive bachelors.

In October 2011, Cosmopolitan Magazine chose him as their Bachelor of the Year. He won $10,000 and gave all the money to the Boys & Girls Clubs of Cleveland. Chris won two Sports Emmy Awards on June 2, 2012. He won for Best Host and Best Single Sports Story. This award was for his report on Gregory Iron, a professional wrestler from Cleveland. Gregory wrestles even though he has cerebral palsy. On June 7, 2014, Chris won his third Sports Emmy Award for Best Host.

Joining WSVN's Deco Drive

Chris Van Vliet started as the entertainment reporter for WSVN's show Deco Drive on January 5, 2015. This show is on every night. On January 29, 2016, Chris interviewed actresses Leslie Mann and Dakota Johnson for their movie How to Be Single. This interview became very popular online because the actresses joked and flirted with Chris the whole time. On June 27, 2015, Chris won his fourth Emmy Award for Best Host. He has been nominated for nine Emmy Awards in total.

Competitive Bass Fishing

Besides his work in media, Chris Van Vliet also enjoys competitive bass fishing. He has entered many tournaments like Bassmaster and FLW Outdoors. He even won an award in the Amateur Division for catching the "Big Fish of the Day." This happened at a Bassmaster Northern Open event from September 12–14, 2013, in Sandusky, Ohio. He caught a smallmouth bass that weighed 6 pounds, 7 ounces. He has also finished in the top ten twice in other Bassmaster Northern Opens. Chris is also a co-founder of WOO! Tungsten, a brand for outdoor gear.

Passion for Professional Wrestling

Chris Van Vliet is a big fan of professional wrestling. He has worked as an announcer for wrestling shows in Cleveland and Florida. He also announced for several companies in Toronto. He often interviews professional wrestlers from big companies like WWE, All Elite Wrestling (AEW), and Total Nonstop Action (TNA). He shares these interviews on his popular YouTube channel.

On July 29, 2019, Chris announced that he had signed with AEW. He became a backstage interviewer for their weekly TV show AEW Dynamite on TNT. Chris appeared on the first episode of Dynamite as a ringside interviewer with actors Kevin Smith and Jason Mewes. He also hosted a live interview with The Rock 'n' Roll Express on a later episode in Charleston, West Virginia.
