About Chuck Inglish

Early Life and The Cool Kids (1984–2012)

Chuck Inglish, whose real name is Evan Ingersoll, grew up in Mount Clemens, Michigan. After he turned 18, he moved to Chicago, Illinois. He went to Notre Dame High School in Harper Woods, Michigan. There, he played both football and basketball.

In 2005, Ingersoll met Sir Michael Rocks. Reed found a music beat that Ingersoll had made on MySpace. They met to talk about the beat. Soon, they ended up recording music together for two hours. They were inspired by older hip hop music. Artists like LL Cool J and Eric B. & Rakim were big influences.

Ingersoll started sharing their new music. Soon, they were booked for a DJ show. At this show, they met DJ Diplo. Diplo wanted to release their unreleased songs as a mixtape. It was called Totally Flossed Out. It was later released on C.A.K.E. Recordings. They also signed a deal with DJ A-Trak's label, Fool's Gold Records, but only for one song. The Cool Kids felt they did not get enough attention from this label.

All their early music was shared on their MySpace page. After playing at music festivals, they signed with Chocolate Industries. In 2008, The Cool Kids announced their first album, When Fish Ride Bicycles. It was finally released in 2011. Chuck Inglish produced most of their songs. Both members also rap and produce. They use a music software program called Reason to make their beats.

In 2007, The Cool Kids opened for M.I.A. on her KALA Tour. They also performed at the 2008 Rock the Bells hip hop festival. The group toured Australia in February 2008. They also played at the Laneway Festival. In April 2009, they appeared at SUNY Purchase's Culture Shock event.

One of their songs, "Black Mags", was in a Rhapsody TV commercial. This happened in late 2007. The group also worked with Lil Wayne on a song called "Gettin' It".

The Cool Kids' songs have been in video games. "88" was in NBA Live 08 and MLB 2K8. They teamed up with The Bloody Beetroots for the song Awesome in Need for Speed Nitro. Their song "Mikey Rocks" was in an episode of the HBO TV show Entourage.

Rolling Stone magazine named them one of "Ten Artists to Watch in 2008". They became very popular in Chicago. In 2008, they led the "NBA 2K Bounce Tour". The group's second mixtape, Gone Fishing, came out on May 5, 2009. On May 12, 2010, they released another mixtape called Tacklebox.

In 2010, Chuck Inglish and Mikey Rocks formed a "super group" called P.O.C. They joined with Freddie Gibbs and Chip tha Ripper. On July 11, 2011, The Cool Kids' first album, When Fish Ride Bicycles, was released. Inglish released instrumental mixtapes called WRKING in 2012 and WRKOUT in 2012.

Solo Career and Convertibles (2013–Present)

On June 13, 2013, Chuck Inglish released a mixtape called Droptops. He then released a five-song EP called Easily on October 15, 2013.

His first solo album, Convertibles, was released on April 8, 2014. It came out through his Sounds Like Fun label and Federal Prism Records. Chuck Inglish and Incubus' Mike Einziger helped produce the album. It has 13 songs. Many artists worked on it, including Chance the Rapper, Action Bronson, BJ the Chicago Kid, Ab-Soul, and Mac Miller. His fellow Cool Kids member Sir Michael Rocks also appeared. The Canadian duo Chromeo was also featured.

Before the album, three songs were released. These were "Swervin'" (with Sir Michael Rocks and Polyester the Saint), "Came Thru/Easily" (with Ab-Soul and Mac Miller), and "Legs" (with Chromeo).
