The Chébistuane River is a river in Quebec, Canada. It flows into the Barlow River, which is part of the larger Chibougamau River system. It's located in the Eeyou Istchee Baie-James area, in the Nord-du-Québec region.
The river flows through areas called Richardson and Blaiklock townships. It's also found within a special protected area called the Lakes Albanel, Mistassini and Waconichi Wildlife Sanctuary. You can reach the river's area by a forest road that goes north from the town of Chibougamau.
The Chébistuane River usually freezes over from early November until mid-May. However, it's generally safe to travel on the ice from mid-November to mid-April.

River's Location and Flow
The Chébistuane River starts at Lake Sirois. This lake is about 0.5 kilometers long and sits at an elevation of 389 meters.
The river's source is located:
- About 0.9 km northwest of a small bay in Waconichi Lake.
- About 10.9 km southeast of where the Chébistuane River joins the Barlow River.
- About 18.9 km northeast of downtown Chibougamau.
Where the River Flows
From its source, the Chébistuane River flows for about 30.7 kilometers. It winds through different landscapes, including marshy areas.
The river's journey includes:
- Flowing northeast for about 3.8 km, marking the edge of a swamp.
- Turning west for about 4.0 km, passing a mountain that is 513 meters high.
- Moving southwest for about 6.4 km, curving north to a forest road bridge.
- Heading northwest for about 8.2 km, creating many small streams in marshy spots.
- Winding northwest for about 8.3 km through marshland until it reaches its end.
Where the River Ends
The Chébistuane River flows into the northern bank of the Chibougamau River. This meeting point is in a marshy area, just upstream from Chevrillon Lake.
From this point, the water flows southwest along the Chibougamau River. It then continues through the Waswanipi River to the eastern shore of Goéland Lake (Waswanipi River). The Waswanipi River then crosses Goéland Lake and eventually flows into Lake Matagami.
The mouth of the Chébistuane River is located:
- About 11.7 km west of a bay in Waconichi Lake.
- About 21.5 km north of downtown Chibougamau.

About the Name
The name "Chébistuane River" became official on December 5, 1968. This was the same day the Commission de toponymie du Québec (Quebec's Place Names Commission) was created.
