Coddenham has a very long and interesting history!

Roman Times

During the time when the Romans lived in Britain, Coddenham was the biggest settlement in Suffolk. Imagine that! The Romans built two forts here, at a place called Baylham House. This area was known as Combretovium back then. A major Roman road, which connected Colchester (called Camulodunum by the Romans) to Caistor St Edmund in Norfolk, passed right through the town.

Today, Coddenham is a peaceful village. It has nice places to walk in the countryside and a big, fun play area for children.

On November 23, 1981, Coddenham experienced a small tornado. It was part of a day when many tornadoes happened across the country. Luckily, it wasn't a very strong one.
