Cody Derek Latimer (born October 10, 1992) is an American former professional football player. He played as a wide receiver and sometimes as a tight end. The Denver Broncos chose him in the second round of the 2014 NFL draft. He played college football at Indiana University. Cody was part of the Broncos team that won Super Bowl 50. He also played for the New York Giants in the National Football League (NFL). Later, he played for the Orlando Guardians in the XFL and the San Antonio Brahmas in the United Football League (UFL).

Early Life and High School Football

Cody Latimer grew up in Dayton, Ohio. He went to Jefferson Township High School. In his senior year, he was a top player. He caught 42 passes for 722 yards and scored six touchdowns. He also ran for 372 yards and scored six more touchdowns. On defense, he made 89 tackles and caught four interceptions.

Besides football, Cody was a talented athlete in other sports. He played basketball and baseball. He also ran track. Experts thought he was one of the best wide receiver prospects in his class.

College Football Career

Cody Latimer played college football at Indiana University from 2011 to 2013.

In 2012, Cody had some amazing games. On September 15, he caught four passes for 115 yards and two touchdowns against Ball State. Later, on November 3, he had seven catches for 113 yards and three touchdowns against Iowa.

His 2013 season was also very strong. He had five games where he gained over 100 receiving yards. This included 189 yards and three touchdowns against Illinois.

Overall, during his college career, Cody started 24 out of 32 games. He caught 135 passes for a total of 2,042 yards. He also scored 17 touchdowns. After his junior year, he decided to enter the 2014 NFL draft.

Cody Latimer was drafted by the Denver Broncos in 2014. He played for several teams during his professional career.

Denver Broncos (2014–2017)

The Denver Broncos picked Cody Latimer in the second round of the 2014 NFL draft. He was the 56th player chosen overall. On June 2, 2014, he signed a four-year contract with the Broncos.

2014 Season

Cody began his first season competing for a backup wide receiver spot. He made his NFL debut in the Broncos' first game against the Indianapolis Colts. In Week 10, he caught his first pass from quarterback Peyton Manning. He finished his rookie year with two catches for 23 yards. He played in eight games.

2015 Season

In 2015, Cody competed for a bigger role on the team. He earned his first start in Week 11. In that game, he caught his first career touchdown pass. The Broncos won that game against the Chicago Bears. He finished the season with six catches for 59 yards and one touchdown.

The Broncos had a great season, finishing with 12 wins. They made it to the playoffs. Cody played in his first playoff game against the Pittsburgh Steelers. The Broncos kept winning and made it to the Super Bowl. On February 7, 2016, Cody Latimer and the Broncos won Super Bowl 50. They defeated the Carolina Panthers 24–10.

On March 19, 2018, Cody Latimer signed with the New York Giants. He joined his former wide receivers coach there. In 2018, he played in six games. He caught 11 passes for 190 yards and one touchdown.

Cody re-signed with the Giants in 2019. He played in 15 games that season. He had 24 catches for 300 yards and two touchdowns.

Washington Football Team (2020)

Cody Latimer signed with the Washington Redskins on April 7, 2020. The team later changed its name to the Washington Football Team. He was released by the team on August 23, 2020.

XFL and UFL Career (2023–2024)

Cody Latimer was chosen by the Orlando Guardians in the 2023 XFL Skill Players Draft. He was listed as a tight end for the team. The XFL later merged with the USFL to form the United Football League (UFL).

In 2024, Cody was selected by the San Antonio Brahmas in the 2024 UFL dispersal draft. He signed with the team on January 22.

Personal Life

Cody Latimers father, Colby, also played college football. He played for Bowling Green State University in the 1980s. Sadly, his father passed away from cancer in 2005. Cody also lost his grandmother to cancer. He helps raise money for the American Cancer Society.
