Colin Munro (born March 11, 1987) is a former international cricketer from New Zealand. He was born in South Africa but played for the New Zealand cricket team. Colin was also part of the New Zealand Under-19 team when he was younger. He played for the Auckland cricket team for many years. Colin was a key player in the New Zealand squad that finished as runners-up in the 2019 Cricket World Cup. He announced his retirement from international cricket on May 10, 2024.

Early Life and Cricket Beginnings
Colin Munro was born in early spring 1987. He was the youngest of four boys. He went to Maidstone Primary School in Tongaat, South Africa. After his family moved to New Zealand, he attended Pakuranga College. He played for the school's top cricket team. Colin even represented New Zealand in the Under-19 Cricket World Cup in Sri Lanka in 2006.

Colin Munro has played for many different cricket teams. These teams are often called "franchises" in T20 cricket leagues.
Big Scores in New Zealand Cricket
In the 2012-13 Plunket Shield Season, Colin and his teammate Craig Cachopa made a huge partnership. They scored 377 runs together for the sixth wicket. This was almost a record for the Plunket Shield tournament. Colin scored an amazing 269 runs without being out for the Auckland Aces. He hit 27 fours and 14 sixes in that game. This was the second-highest score ever for the Auckland Aces.
Playing in T20 Leagues
Colin Munro has played for many teams in Twenty20 (T20) leagues. These are fast-paced cricket games.
- In January 2017, he joined the Sydney Sixers in Australia's Big Bash League.
- He also played for the Kolkata Knight Riders and Delhi Capitals in the Indian Premier League (IPL).
- In the Caribbean Premier League, he played for the Trinbago Knight Riders.
- He also played for teams in the Pakistan Super League, like Karachi Kings and Islamabad United.
- In England, he played for Worcestershire, Hampshire, Manchester Originals, Trent Rockets, and Nottinghamshire.
- He was part of the Perth Scorchers in Australia and Brisbane Heat as well.
Focusing on White Ball Cricket
In March 2018, Colin decided to focus mainly on "white ball" cricket. This means he played more One Day Internationals (ODIs) and Twenty20 Internationals (T20Is). He chose not to play in the longer "red ball" Test matches for a while. This decision helped him prepare for the 2019 Cricket World Cup.

Test Cricket Debut
Colin was chosen for the New Zealand Test Cricket team in 2013. He played against South Africa. He became the 258th player to represent New Zealand in Test cricket.
Fastest Fifties and Centuries
Colin Munro became known for his fast scoring in T20 International matches.
- In 2016, he scored one of the fastest T20I fifties ever. He reached 50 runs in just 14 balls against Sri Lanka. He hit seven sixes in that innings. This was also the fastest fifty by a New Zealander.
- On January 6, 2017, he scored his first T20 International century against Bangladesh. He was the third New Zealander to achieve this.
- Later in 2017, he scored his second T20 International century against India. He was the first player to score two T20I centuries in one year.
- In January 2018, he made history by becoming the first player to score three centuries in T20I cricket. This amazing achievement helped him become the number one T20I batsman in the world.
World Cup and Awards
Colin Munro was a key part of the New Zealand team.
- In March 2019, he was named the ANZ International Men's T20 Player of the Year. This was a big award at the New Zealand Cricket awards.
- The next month, he was selected for New Zealand's squad for the 2019 Cricket World Cup. The team reached the final of this major tournament.
