Colts Neck Township is a lovely community in Monmouth County, New Jersey. It's part of the larger New York Metropolitan Area. In 2020, about 9,957 people lived here.
This area was first named Atlantic Township on February 18, 1847. It was created from parts of other nearby townships. Later, on November 6, 1962, people voted to change its name to "Colts Neck Township." Colts Neck is known for being one of New Jersey's wealthier communities. Many families here have a high income.

Colts Neck is a quiet, wealthy community in Central New Jersey. It's a popular place for people who work in New York City. They enjoy the open spaces and being close to the Jersey Shore.
The township has strict rules about building. This helps keep out big city developments and large chain stores. Instead, you'll find many local businesses. Yet, malls and movie theaters are still close by in other towns.

Colts Neck has a special committee to protect farmland. They have saved almost 1,000 acres of land. This helps stop large-scale building projects. Most homes here are built on big lots, usually 2 to 10 acres. This is because there is no public water or sewer system.
Colts Neck was once a farming area. It is still famous for its many horse farms. In recent decades, some farmland has become home to large houses and estates. But many horse farms still remain.

Laird & Company is a very old company located in Scobeyville. They make Laird's Applejack, a type of alcoholic drink. They have been making it since 1780. Today, their apples are grown and distilled in Virginia. Then, the product is brought to Colts Neck to be aged and bottled. It is the only company still making Applejack in the United States.
Four JG's Orchards & Vineyards
This is a local winery in the township. It is named after the first initials of the owners and their two children.
