Commissariat Point is a small area in South Australia, a state in Australia. It's located on the eastern side of the Eyre Peninsula, which is a large piece of land sticking out into the ocean. From Commissariat Point, you can see the beautiful Spencer Gulf. It's about 270 kilometers (168 miles) north-west of Adelaide, the capital city of South Australia. It's also quite close, about 11 kilometers (7 miles) south, to the town of Port Augusta.

What's in a Name?
The name "Commissariat Point" was officially given to this area in 1994. It got its name from a nearby piece of land that sticks out into the sea, also called Commissariat Point. This area used to have a place known as the Commissariat Point Shack Site.
Getting Around the Area
On its western side, Commissariat Point is bordered by a road called Shack Road. This road starts in Port Augusta West in the north. It then follows the coast along Spencer Gulf down to Blanche Harbor. It continues further south into areas within the City of Whyalla.
Holiday Homes and Training Areas
As of 2012, the southern part of Commissariat Point was set aside for homes. These homes are mainly for people to use as holiday accommodation. This means it's a popular spot for vacations!
Right next to Commissariat Point, to its west, is an area called Cultana. This entire area is taken up by the Cultana Training Area. This is a special place used by the Australian Army for military training.
Government and Representation
Commissariat Point is part of different government areas.
- For federal elections, it's in the Division of Grey. This is how people vote for their representatives in the national government.
- For state elections, it's in the electoral district of Stuart. This is for voting for representatives in the South Australian state government.
