About the Corroncho Catfish
Size and Breathing
The corroncho can grow to be about 28.5 centimeters (around 11.2 inches) long. This measurement is taken from its snout to the base of its tail. What's cool about this fish is that it can breathe air! It's known as a "facultative air-breather," meaning it can breathe air when it needs to, especially if the water doesn't have enough oxygen.
Popular Aquarium Fish
The Pterygoplichthys punctatus is also a popular fish for home aquariums. When sold in pet stores, it might be called by several different names. Some common names include the imperial ranger pleco, the Guimares silver pleco, the Trinidad pleco, or the yogi pleco. These names help people identify them in the pet trade.
