Cresson is a small city in Texas, located where three counties meet: Hood, Johnson, and Parker. It's found right where two main roads, U.S. Highway 377 and State Highway 171, cross paths. This makes it about 25 miles (40 km) southwest of Fort Worth.
Cresson became an official city in 2001. In 2010, its population was 741 people. By 2020, the number of people living there grew to 1,349.

History of Cresson
The exact reason for Cresson's name is not fully known. One idea is that it was named after a man named John Cresson. He was a wagon train captain who camped in the area before the Civil War.
Another story says that Cresson was named after an official from the Fort Worth and Rio Grande Railroad. This railroad, along with the Gulf, Colorado and Santa Fe and the Nancy Hanks railroad companies, used to serve the area. Some people also think Cresson might be named after Cresson, Pennsylvania. That city also has a long history with railroads.
Geography of Cresson
Cresson is located on the border between Hood and Johnson counties. Its city limits also reach north into Parker County.
US 377 goes northeast from Cresson about 25 miles (40 km) to Fort Worth. It goes southwest about 12 miles (19 km) to Granbury, which is the main town for Hood County. State Highway 171 goes northwest about 20 miles (32 km) to Weatherford, the main town for Parker County. It also goes southeast about 19 miles (31 km) to Cleburne, the main town for Johnson County.
Because Cresson is located between these four important towns, it's a good spot for travelers to stop for fuel. It's also an easy place for new businesses to start up and serve people who travel between these cities.
