Exploring Culter Fell
Culter Fell stands tall at 748 meters (about 2,454 feet) above sea level. It's a popular spot for hikers and offers amazing views. The hill is known for its unique shape, being the highest point in its local area.
How to Climb Culter Fell
The easiest way to climb Culter Fell is usually from the northwest side. A good starting point is near Kings Beck, at a spot marked NT 031305 on maps. Older maps from the Ordnance Survey (OSGB) showed a public road here. However, newer maps show it as a private road. You might see signs asking people not to park there.
It's best to park your car about 500 meters back, at a place called Birthwood. From there, you might be tempted to follow the track along Kings Beck. But a more direct and easier path goes straight up the northwest ridge. The ground on this path is smooth and dry. The plants are short, making it easy to walk. Even though there isn't a built path, many climbers have created helpful steps with their boots.
Other Climbing Paths
You can also start your climb from Glenkirk, which is to the east (NT077295). From here, you can choose different routes. One popular option is a circular walk along a ridge that includes Chapelgill Hill. This gives you more variety and different views.
Important Tips for Visitors
