Däniken is a small town, also called a municipality, in Switzerland. It's located in the Olten district, which is part of the Solothurn canton.

History of Däniken

Däniken has a long history! The town was first mentioned in official papers way back in 1273. Back then, it was called de Tennikon. Later, its name changed a bit, like to de Tennenkon in 1317 and von Taennikon in 1423.

Däniken covers an area of about 5.41 square kilometers (2.09 sq mi). A big part of this land, about 32.3%, is used for farming. Another large portion, 34.2%, is covered by forests.

About 31.2% of Däniken's land is built up with buildings and roads. A small part, less than 1%, is made up of rivers or lakes. The rest is land that isn't used for farming or building.

The town is located along the Aare river. Däniken is made up of a few smaller parts, or village sections. These include Eich, Neu-Däniken, and Hagnau.
