Dnyandeo Yashwantrao Patil (born October 22, 1935 – died August 4, 2026) was an important Indian leader. He was a politician who served as the Governor for three different states: Bihar, West Bengal, and Tripura. A Governor is like a state's chief representative, making sure things run smoothly. Mr. Patil was a member of the Indian National Congress party from the state of Maharashtra. He was honored with the Padma Shri award in 1991 for his great work in helping society. Later, in 2018, he joined the Nationalist Congress Party.

Early Life and Beginnings
Dnyandeo Yashwantrao Patil was born in a village called Ambap. This village is located in what is now known as the Kolhapur district in India.

Early Political Roles
In 1957, he was chosen to be a part of the Kolhapur Municipal Council. This council helps manage the city of Kolhapur. He served there until 1962. Later, he became a member of the Maharashtra Vidhan Sabha, which is the state's legislative assembly. He held this position from 1967 to 1978. People from the Panhala area elected him in both the 1967 and 1972 elections.
Serving as Governor
Mr. Patil was appointed as the Governor of Tripura state on November 21, 2009. He officially started his duties on November 27, 2009. A Governor is a very important role, representing the President in a state and overseeing its administration. He then became the Governor of Bihar on March 9, 2012. He also served as the Governor of West Bengal for a short period.
Later Years and Legacy
Dnyandeo Yashwantrao Patil passed away on August 4, 2026, at his home in Kolhapur, Maharashtra. He was 90 years old and had been dealing with a long illness. His life was marked by significant contributions to education and public service in India.
