Darien is a small town located in Genesee County, New York, in the United States. In 2020, about 3,010 people lived there. Darien is in the southwestern part of Genesee County, which is southwest of the city of Batavia.

History of Darien
Early Days and Name Changes
Long ago, the area where Darien is now was home to the Seneca people. They called this place O-so-on-to-geh, which means "Place where turkeys are found."
The first settlers arrived around 1803. At first, the area was known as South Pembroke. The town of Darien was officially created in 1832. It was formed from the southern part of another town called Pembroke. In its early years, Darien was mostly a farming community. It grew food for nearby cities like Buffalo.

Darien covers a total area of about 47.6 square miles (123.3 square kilometers). Most of this area, about 47.5 square miles (122.7 square kilometers), is land. Only a small part, about 0.1 square miles (0.3 square kilometers), is water.
The western border of Darien touches the town of Alden in Erie County. To the south, Darien shares a border with the town of Bennington in Wyoming County.

Several important roads pass through Darien:
- US Route 20 (also called Broadway) goes across the town. It meets NY-77 in a place called Darien Center.
- The northern end of NY-238 (Attica Road) is also in Darien.
- NY-33 crosses the very northwest corner of the town.

- Lehigh – A hamlet found in the northeast corner of the town.
- Longwood – A hamlet on the northern border of the town, southeast of Corfu.
- Murder Creek – This is a small stream that flows into Tonawanda Creek.
