David Cash Jr. (born June 11, 1948) is a former American baseball player and coach. He played in Major League Baseball (MLB) as a second baseman. His career lasted from 1969 to 1980.
Dave Cash was a key player for the Pittsburgh Pirates. He helped them win the 1971 World Series. He also played for the Philadelphia Phillies, where he was chosen as an All-Star three times. Later, he played for the Montreal Expos and the San Diego Padres. After playing, Cash became a coach and manager in minor league baseball.

Playing Career Highlights
Dave Cash was born in Utica, New York. He went to Thomas R. Proctor High School. His MLB career began in 1969. In his first two seasons, he played in 82 games. He showed he could hit well, with a .306 batting average.
Time with the Pittsburgh Pirates
Cash became a strong player for the Pittsburgh Pirates. He was known for hitting singles and playing great defense at second base. From 1971 to 1973, he was the Pirates' main second baseman. He helped the team win the 1971 World Series.
After the 1973 season, the Pirates traded Cash. He went to the Philadelphia Phillies in exchange for pitcher Ken Brett.
Becoming an All-Star with the Phillies
With the Philadelphia Phillies, Dave Cash became an everyday player. From 1974 to 1976, he hardly missed any games. He was chosen for the All-Star team every year during this time. In 1974 and 1975, he batted .300 or better. He also had over 200 hits in both of those seasons.
Later Years in Baseball
After the 1976 season, Cash joined the Montreal Expos. He had a good year in 1977. However, his performance dropped in 1978. By 1979, he was no longer the Expos' starting second baseman. He finished his playing career in 1980. He played part-time for the San Diego Padres.
Coaching and Managing Roles
After his playing days, Dave Cash continued his career in baseball as a coach and manager.
In 2006, he became the first base coach for the Baltimore Orioles.
Managing the Utica Brewmasters
In 2007, Cash was hired to manage the Utica Brewmasters. This team was part of the New York State League. It was special because it was in his hometown of Utica, New York. During the team's very first game, Cash was ejected from the game. This happened when he argued with the umpire about calls.
Coaching the Sussex Skyhawks
In 2008, Cash became the hitting coach for the Sussex Skyhawks. This team played in the CAN-AM League. The Skyhawks won the 2008 CAN-AM League Championship. They beat the Quebec Capitales 3 games to 0.
In 2010, Cash also served as the hitting coach for the Yuma Scorpions.
