Exploring Dawlish Warren's Location
Dawlish Warren sits at the mouth of the Exe Estuary, across from Exmouth. It has a lovely beach, a huge National Nature Reserve (about 506 acres!), and a golf course. The golf course is also a special protected area for nature.

The famous sand spit at Dawlish Warren is home to both the golf course and the nature reserve. This reserve became a National Nature Reserve in 2000. Over the last 100 years, this sand spit has gotten smaller. This is partly because of a breakwater built nearby. This breakwater changed how sand moves along the coast.
Dawlish Warren beach is a great place to swim and play. In the past, there were some concerns about water quality. But now, a new sewage treatment plant has been built. This means both Dawlish Warren and Dawlish beaches have won the Blue Flag award. This award shows that the bathing waters are very clean and safe.
