Daze Before Christmas is a fun platformer where you play as Santa Claus! It was made by a Norwegian company called Funcom. The game first came out in 1994 for the Mega Drive console, but only in Australia. Later, it was also released for the Super NES in Europe and Australia. Sadly, it never came out in North America.

How to Play Daze Before Christmas
In this game, you control Santa Claus. Your mission is to save Christmas! An evil mouse has stolen all the kids' presents. This mouse also put a spell on the presents.
Santa has to fight many different enemies. These include giant rats, mean toys, and even living snowmen. Santa uses his magic powers to turn these enemies into harmless Christmas presents.
You can also find special power-ups. One power-up lets Santa shoot flames. These flames can melt ice in the game. Santa's magic also helps him open presents found in the levels. These presents might have enemies, power-ups, bells, elves, or even bombs inside.
Santa's health is shown by Santa hats. Each hat means he can take one hit. If he loses all his hats, he loses a life. You can collect more hats to get your energy back.
Meet Anti-Claus
One cool thing about the game is that Santa can turn into his "evil twin," called Anti-Claus. To do this, Santa just needs to drink a cup of tea. When he transforms, Santa looks like a blue-suited, devilish version of himself.
As Anti-Claus, Santa is super strong and cannot be hurt. However, he cannot use his magic or open presents in this form. His main way to attack is by swinging his sack of toys at enemies.
Santa's Sleigh Ride
Sometimes, between the regular platform levels, you get to fly Santa's sleigh! In these parts of the game, you use the presents you've collected. Your goal is to drop them down chimneys in different places around the world.
Making the Game
The main programmer for the Mega Drive version was Carl-Henrik Skårstedt. He said that the game took about a year to make. He joined the team when the game was already six months into development.
He also mentioned that some parts of the game's computer code came from another Funcom game. That game was based on the movie We're Back! A Dinosaur's Story. The Super NES version of Daze Before Christmas was created by Olav Mørkrid. This process took about six months.
Secret Codes
There are some secret codes in the game! The level select cheat code for the Super NES version is said to be a nickname. It refers to "Badla," which was the nickname of Geir Tjelta. He was a musician who worked on the game.
The Mega Drive version's level select cheat code is "Barra." This is a Swedish word. It refers to when a Christmas tree starts dropping its needles.
Game Release
The Mega Drive version of Daze Before Christmas was only released in Australia. It came out at the same time as two other games: Ecco Jr. and Fatal Fury 2.
