Deborah Nowalski Kader, known to many as Debi Nova, is a talented singer and songwriter from Costa Rica. She was born on August 6, 1980. Many people consider her the most successful artist from Costa Rica.
Debi started her music journey as a backing singer. She sang for the famous Costa Rican rock band Gandhi. Later, she sang for international stars like Sérgio Mendes and Ricky Martin. She has also worked with many other artists. These include the Black Eyed Peas, Mark Ronson, and Sean Paul. She even wrote songs for groups like Orishas and RBD.
In 2004, Debi released her first solo song, "One Rhythm". This song became a number one hit on Billboard's US Dance Club Songs Chart. It was also featured in the popular EA FIFA 2005 video game. Since then, Debi has worked with many other musicians. Some of them are Franco de Vita, Fonseca, and Pedro Capó.
She has released five albums. Three of her albums have been nominated for Latin Grammy Awards. She won a Latin Grammy for Best Engineered Album. Early Life and Music Beginnings
Debi Nova was born in Escazú, San José, Costa Rica. This was on August 6, 1980. She started playing the piano when she was just four years old. She played classical music for ten years.
By age 14, she was writing her own songs. She also learned to play many different instruments. When she was 17, she signed her first record deal. She then moved to Los Angeles to follow her music dreams. She studied at the Los Angeles College of Music.
Debi Nova's Music Career
Debi Nova began her career singing backup for the band Gandhi. With them, she even got to open a show for the famous rock band Deep Purple. She also sang with Ricky Martin. They recorded a Spanish version of his song "I Don't Care". Debi also sang backup for Britney Spears on her song "Lace and Leather". This song was on Britney's album Circus.
In 2004, her song "One Rhythm" became a huge hit. It reached number one on the US Dance Club Songs chart. A special version of the song was used in the EA Sports video game FIFA Football 2005.
Debi made her first appearance on US television in 2010. She performed on the show Dancing with the Stars.
Her first studio album, Luna Nueva, came out in 2010. It included her popular song "Drummer Boy".
In 2011, MTV Latin America gave her an award. It was for her work with the United Nations campaign. This campaign was called "UNITE to end violence against women". In 2012, she became an ambassador for YUNGA. This group helps young people and the United Nations work together.
