White Horse Wood: A New Forest

The area near the top of Detling Hill has become a new forest called White Horse Wood. Over 20,000 trees have been planted here! These include different kinds of trees like oak, ash, silver birch, wild cherry, and crab apple. Five hectares (about 12 acres) of land have also been planted with seeds to create open grassland. This helps different plants and animals live there.

Finding the Summit

The very highest point of Detling Hill is a few hundred meters northwest of a special marker. This marker is called a trig point. It was once used by mapmakers to measure the land. Now, it's the center of a "view-finder" that helps you see what's around you.
