Dickson is a town located in Carter County, Oklahoma, in the United States. In 2010, the town had a population of 1,207 people. By the year 2020, its population had grown to 1,331 residents. Dickson is considered part of the Ardmore area.
Geography of Dickson
Dickson is found on the eastern side of Carter County. To its west is Ardmore, which is the main city of the county. To the east, you will find Mannsville in Johnston County. Part of Marshall County is located to the south.
U.S. Route 177 goes right through the middle of Dickson. This road can take you north about 23 miles to Sulphur. If you go southeast on the same road, it's about 16 miles to Madill. Another road, Oklahoma State Highway 199, leads west from Dickson's center. It's about 10 miles to the center of Ardmore.
The United States Census Bureau says that Dickson covers a total area of about 14.08 square miles (36.5 square kilometers). Most of this area, about 13.96 square miles (36.2 square kilometers), is land. The rest, about 0.12 square miles (0.3 square kilometers), is water.

Education in Dickson
The town of Dickson is served by the Dickson public school system. Several schools from Carter County have joined together to form the Dickson school district. This makes it one of the largest school districts in Oklahoma.
Dickson schools have had some great achievements:
- In the mid-1990s, the cross country running team won the state championship three years in a row.
- The powerlifting team won the Oklahoma Large-School team championship in 2008.
- Dickson High School has been recognized as a Blue Ribbon School of Excellence by the U.S. Department of Education. This award means the school is doing a great job educating its students.
