Dinosaur Bar-B-Que is a super popular chain of restaurants. They are famous for their delicious Barbecue food. Many locations also have live blues music. You can find most of their restaurants in New York State. They also have branches in New Jersey.

History of Dinosaur Bar-B-Que
How It Started
The very first Dinosaur Bar-B-Que opened in 1988. It was on Willow Street in downtown Syracuse. This first restaurant was in an old building. It used to be a tavern and even a Cadillac car dealership!
Cool Old Buildings
Many Dinosaur Bar-B-Que restaurants are in interesting old buildings.
- The Rochester restaurant is in a former train station. It looks out over the Genesee River.
- The Buffalo restaurant used to be a storage place for Universal Pictures movies.
- The Brooklyn restaurant was once a shop that made tools.
- The Newark location was a boxing club. A famous boxer named Rubin Carter even trained there!
Cookbook Fun
In 2001, a cookbook was published. It was called Dinosaur Bar-B-Que: An American Roadhouse. This book shared many of the restaurant's yummy recipes.
A Small Hiccup
In late 2006, the Syracuse restaurant had to close for about a week. This was due to a health issue. Hundreds of customers and employees felt unwell. Health inspectors from Onondaga County checked everything. They found no fault with the restaurant.
America's Best Barbecue
In May 2009, something exciting happened! Dinosaur Bar-B-Que was voted America's best barbecue. This was in a poll by ABC's Good Morning America show. About 4,000 people out of 7,500 chose Dinosaur Bar-B-Que as their favorite!
On TV!
In 2010, Adam Richman visited the Syracuse location. He was the host of the Travel Channel show Man v. Food. Dinosaur Bar-B-Que was his first stop in Syracuse. He tried their "Pork-Sket" sandwich. This sandwich has a lot of brisket and pulled pork. The episode first aired in September 2010.
