The Division of Batman was later removed in 2019 and replaced by a new area called the Division of Cooper.
This division was named after John Batman, who was one of the people who helped start the city of Melbourne. When it was first created, it covered inner suburbs like Carlton and Fitzroy. Over time, its borders changed and it moved further north. It eventually included suburbs such as Alphington, Clifton Hill, Northcote, Preston, Reservoir, and Thornbury.
