Démoret is a small town, also called a municipality, located in Switzerland. It is part of the Jura-Nord Vaudois area in the canton of Vaud.

History of Démoret

Démoret has a long history! It was first written about in the year 1154. Back then, its name was Donmores. Later, in 1453, people started calling it Demoret, which is very similar to its name today.

Démoret covers an area of about 4.3 square kilometers (1.7 square miles). A big part of this land, almost 79%, is used for farming. About 17% of the area is covered by forests. The remaining small part, about 5%, has buildings and roads.

Most of the forested land in Démoret is made up of thick, heavy forests. For farming, people mainly grow crops on about 72% of the land. The rest of the farm land is used for pastures where animals can graze.

Démoret used to be part of the Yverdon District. But in 2006, it became part of the new Jura-Nord Vaudois district. The town is located on both sides of the main road in the northern Jorat plateau, which is a high, flat area between two rivers called Broye and Mentue.
