The East Fork Coquille River is a cool waterway in Oregon, United States. It's about 34 miles (55 km) long. This river flows into the North Fork Coquille River. It starts high up in the Southern Oregon Coast Range. This starting point is near Bennett Rock in Douglas County.

Where Does It Flow?

The East Fork generally flows west. It passes through the Brewster Valley. This area is near the small community of Sitkum. The river then reaches the area around Dora in Coos County.

After Dora, the river turns southwest. It meets the North Fork at a place called Gravelford. The spot where the East Fork joins the North Fork is about 10 miles (16 km) from where the North Fork meets the South Fork Coquille River. That meeting point is near Myrtle Point. The East Fork's mouth is also about 46 miles (74 km) from where the main Coquille River flows into the Pacific Ocean at Bandon.

The land along the East Fork Coquille River is mostly used for two things. People grow trees for timber here. They also use the land for farming. Large areas are covered by commercial forests.

Fishing in the East Fork

The East Fork Coquille River is home to several types of fish. You can find:

At Frona Park, there's a special pond for steelhead. This pond helps young steelhead get used to river life. If you're fishing for steelhead, you can only keep fish that have a clipped fin. This helps protect the wild fish. Also, fishing for coho salmon is not allowed in this river.
