Eiza González Reyna (born January 30, 1990) is a talented Mexican actress and singer. She first became well-known for her role in the Argentine Nickelodeon teen show Sueña conmigo (2010–2011). As a singer, she released two albums: Contracorriente (2009) and Te Acordarás de Mí (2012).

Since then, Eiza has starred in many American TV shows and movies. These include the horror series From Dusk till Dawn: The Series (2014–2016) and action films like Baby Driver (2017), Alita: Battle Angel (2019), Bloodshot (2020), and Ambulance (2022). In 2024, she appeared in the science fiction series 3 Body Problem and the spy action-comedy movie The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare.

Early Life and Education

Eiza González was born in Mexico City, Mexico, on January 30, 1990. She is the only daughter of Glenda Reyna, a former model, and Carlos González. When Eiza was 12 years old, her father sadly passed away in a motorcycle accident. She has said that this event greatly influenced her career choices. Eiza also has an older brother who is 12 years older than her.

She went to two private schools in Mexico City, Edron Academy and the American School Foundation. Both schools taught in two languages. Eiza studied acting at Televisa's acting school, Centro de Educación Artística. She completed two years of a three-year program. At just 16, she was chosen to play the main character in the teen TV show Lola...Érase una vez in 2007.

Eiza's Acting and Music Career

González made her television debut as Lola in Lola...Érase una vez. Years later, she starred in El Rey Network's From Dusk till Dawn: The Series.

While she was still in school, a producer named Pedro Damián noticed Eiza. He was famous for his work with the Latin pop band RBD. Two years later, Damian cast Eiza in a new version of a popular children's TV show from Argentina called Floricienta. Eiza played Lola Valente, the main girl in Lola, érase una vez. The show started filming in late 2006 and first aired in Mexico in February 2007. It became popular in many countries across Latin America and the United States.

After Lola, érase una vez finished, Eiza and her mother moved to New York City for a short time in 2008. There, she took acting classes for three months at the Lee Strasberg Theatre and Film Institute. She returned to Mexico City later that year.

In 2009, she had a small role in a TV crime show called Mujeres Asesinas. She played a teenage character named Gaby. Eiza said she heard about this role while getting ready to release her first solo music album, Contracorriente.

In 2010, Nickelodeon announced that Eiza would star in their teen show Sueña conmigo. She played two characters, Clara Molina and Roxy Pop. To film the show, Eiza moved to Buenos Aires, Argentina, in April 2010. She lived there for a year, returning to Mexico City during breaks. The show was produced by Nickelodeon and Televisa and aired in Latin America and Europe in July 2010. Because the show was so popular in Argentina, the cast performed concerts in many cities there from March to July 2011.

In 2012, Eiza filmed her first movie, Casi 30. It was a comedy-drama directed by Alejandro Sugich. Eiza played Cristina, an 18-year-old ballet student. The movie was shown at film festivals in Mexico in 2013 and then released nationwide in August 2014.

Also in 2012, Eiza starred in the Televisa TV series Amores verdaderos. This show was a new version of an older TV series. She was also offered a lead role in Gossip Girl: Acapulco, a Mexican version of the American show Gossip Girl. Eiza thought about it but decided not to take the role because she was too busy filming Amores verdaderos.

In late 2013, Eiza moved to Los Angeles to continue her acting career. In November 2013, it was announced that she would be in producer Robert Rodriguez's TV series, From Dusk till Dawn: The Series. Eiza played Santanico Pandemonium, a role that Salma Hayek played in the original movie. This was Eiza's first role where she spoke English. She moved to Austin, Texas, to film the show. After it aired in the U.S., the show became available on Netflix in many other countries. The series was renewed for a second season in March 2014.

On August 12, 2014, she hosted the MTV Millennial Awards in Mexico City. In March 2015, Eiza and the cast of From Dusk till Dawn: The Series went back to Austin, Texas, to film the second season.

Since 2015, Eiza has taken on many important roles in movies. She played Darling in Baby Driver (2017), Madame M in Hobbs & Shaw (2019), Nyssiana in Alita: Battle Angel (2019), Fran in I Care a Lot (2020), KT in Bloodshot (2020) with Vin Diesel, Maia Simmons in Godzilla vs. Kong (2021), and paramedic Cam Thompson in Ambulance (2022), directed by Michael Bay. In 2023, Eiza appeared in the Apple TV+ series Extrapolations, which was about climate change. She was also cast in the Netflix series 3 Body Problem, based on a popular book. In 2024, she starred with Henry Cavill in The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare, directed by Guy Ritchie.

Other Projects and Music

Eiza has also been a spokesperson for several well-known brands. In 2008, she became the new face of Color Trend for the cosmetics brand Avon in Mexico. In 2009, she filmed commercials for the skincare brand Asepxia. In February 2015, she was announced as the newest ambassador for the skincare line Neutrogena. She filmed commercials in both Spanish and English for them.

After her successful debut in Lola, érase una vez, Eiza signed a deal with EMI Televisa in late 2008 to record her own music album. She started working on her first album, Contracorriente (which means Counter-current in English), in the fall of 2008. The album was recorded in Los Angeles, Texas, and Mexico City. It was released in Mexico in November 2009 and in the U.S. in January 2010. The only song released from the album was "Mi destino soy yo" in October 2009. Eiza performed this song at music festivals and concerts in Mexico. Because she was busy with the Sueña conmigo musical tour in Argentina, she couldn't go on a longer tour for her album or release another song from it.

In June 2011, Eiza shared that she wanted to focus on making her second solo album. She said she would spend the rest of the year working on new music and wouldn't take on any TV or movie projects until the album was finished. She completed her second album in early 2012. It was recorded in Mexico City, Texas, and the Dominican Republic.

The first song from her second album, "Te Acordarás de Mí", was available for download in Mexico in April 2012 and in the U.S. in May 2012. Eiza helped write this song with Alejandra Alberti and Carlos Lara. The album, also called Te Acordarás de Mí, was released in June 2012. It had 12 songs, and Eiza helped write three of them. The album reached number 66 on the Mexican music charts. "Invisible" was the second song released from the album in Mexico in August 2012.

Personal Life

Eiza González speaks Italian very well and knows some French. In September 2015, she shared that she faced challenges with her mental health and eating habits from age 15 to 20. This was connected to her father's passing. In January 2025, Eiza reported that her home was damaged by the 2025 California wildfires.
