Emily O'Hara Ratajkowski (born June 7, 1991) is an American model and actress. She was born in London to American parents and grew up in Encinitas, California. At a young age, she signed with Ford Models. She became famous after appearing in music videos, including Robin Thicke's "Blurred Lines".
Her first movie role was in Gone Girl (2014). She also appeared in the Sports Illustrated swimsuit issues in 2014 and 2015. In 2015, she made her first professional catwalk appearance for Marc Jacobs at New York Fashion Week. She has also walked in Paris Fashion Week and Milan Fashion Week. Because of her many Vogue covers and fashion campaigns, Models.com calls her one of the new supermodels.

Early Life and Background
Emily O'Hara Ratajkowski was born on June 7, 1991, in Westminster, London. She is the only child of American teachers Kathleen Anne Balgley and John David "J.D." Ratajkowski. She grew up in Encinitas, California, near San Diego. She went to UCLA for a year before leaving to become a full-time model.
Her father was raised Roman Catholic, and her mother is Jewish. Emily identifies herself as "Polish-Israeli" because her ancestors moved to Israel from Eastern Europe. She also has Irish family roots.
Before modeling, Emily tried soccer, acting, and ballet. As a child, she was in some local theater shows. She was also influenced by third-wave feminism and books like The Beauty Myth.

Early Acting and Music Videos
With help from an acting coach, Emily met a talent agent who contacted Ford Models. At age 14, she signed with Ford and began modeling for teen catalogs like Kohl's and Nordstrom. At 15, she tried out for Disney and iCarly roles. She often played bullies or cheerleaders, and bigger roles did not happen. She attended San Dieguito Academy high school while modeling and acting. She appeared in two episodes of Nickelodeon's iCarly (2009–2010) as Gibby's girlfriend, Tasha.
Emily attended UCLA for one year in 2009, then left to model full-time. She later said she found the art education at UCLA difficult. After working with photographer Tony Duran, she did more fashion shoots. She also filmed commercials for Nikon and Carl's Jr.. She appeared in a 2012 Carl's Jr. commercial with Sara Jean Underwood. Emily also did art modeling for magazines and worked for Frederick's of Hollywood.

Robin Thicke convinced director Diane Martel to cast Emily in the "Blurred Lines" video. Emily first said no, worried about being known only for music videos. But Martel persuaded her. The video came out on March 20, 2013.
"Blurred Lines" became a number-one song in many countries in 2013. It was number one on the US Billboard Hot 100 chart for twelve weeks. The song also stayed in the news due to some legal issues.

After the film Gone Girl premiered in September 2014, Emily became the cover model for Cosmopolitan magazine in November 2014. She also appeared in a live-action trailer for Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare in October 2014.
Emily co-starred in the 2015 film Entourage as a fictional version of herself. She played the love interest of Adrian Grenier's character. She was also cast in the 2015 miniseries The Spoils Before Dying.

After seeing her in the "Blurred Lines" video, Ben Affleck chose Emily for his film Gone Girl (2014). She played the mistress of his character. Critics described her performance as "nuanced" and important to the story.
In August 2015, Warner Bros. Pictures released We Are Your Friends, where Emily played Sophie. In February 2016, Emily was cast in the film In Darkness. That August, she became the spokesperson for the Australian swimwear brand Amore + Sorvete.
Emily was one of five models on the August 2016 Vogue Germany covers. She also appeared on the October Glamour cover with Joan Smalls and Kate Upton. In July 2022, Emily and Sebastian separated, and she filed for divorce in September.
