Early Life and Music Career
Emma Muscat grew up in Malta and started loving music from a very young age. She learned to play the piano and became a classically trained pianist. She also began writing her own songs, creating both the music and the lyrics.
In 2016, Emma released her first song called "Alone" on her YouTube channel. The next year, in 2017, she released her second song, "Without You."
In 2018, Emma joined a popular Italian TV talent show called Amici di Maria De Filippi. She made it to the final stages of the show and finished in fourth place in the singing category. After the show, she signed a contract with Warner Music Italy.
Emma also performed at big music events like "Isle of MTV." She shared the stage with famous artists such as Jason Derulo, Hailee Steinfeld, Sigala, Martin Garrix, Bebe Rexha, and Ava Max. She also sang duets with Maltese tenor Joseph Calleja and Italian singer Eros Ramazzotti.
On 6 July 2018, Emma released her first collection of songs, an EP, titled Moments. This EP included her earlier songs that were only on YouTube. Later that year, on 7 December, she released her first full studio album, Moments Christmas Edition, which featured many classic Christmas songs. She also sang with rapper Shade on the song Figurati noi in November 2018.
In 2019, Emma released the song Avec moi, which featured singer Biondo. She also took part in a remix of rapper Junior Cally's song "Sigarette." In December 2019, she released "Vicolo Cieco," which she said would be the first song from her new album. In July 2020, her summer song Sangria, featuring Italian rapper Astol, became very popular. It was certified gold in Italy and had over 28 million streams on YouTube.
Eurovision Song Contest
In February 2022, Emma Muscat entered the Malta Eurovision Song Contest 2022 with her song "Out of Sight." She won the competition with 92 points, which meant she would represent Malta at the Eurovision Song Contest 2022 in Turin, Italy. Both the judges and the public voted for her to win.
However, on 14 March 2022, Emma released a new song called "I Am What I Am" to be her official entry for Eurovision. She performed "I Am What I Am" in the second semi-final of the contest on 12 May 2022. Unfortunately, she did not get enough votes to move on to the final round, finishing in 16th place.
After Eurovision
After Eurovision, Emma continued to make music. She recorded a song called La Stessa Lingua with Spanish Eurovision 2021 artist Blas Cantó. In 2023, she released another song, M.I.A., with Italian DJ Benny Benassi. Emma also performed as the main act before a concert by Latin pop star Maluma in Sicily.
