James Leusink, born on April 13, 1990, is a Canadian music producer. He is famous by his stage name, Ephixa. He lives in Ontario, Canada.

Ephixa is well-known for his awesome remixes. These include a super popular remix of "Charlie Sheen Bi-Winning." He also makes cool remixes of songs from the Legend of Zelda video games. In 2011, he even reached number 11 on Billboard's Next Big Sound chart! He also released the very first song for the record label Monstercat. That song was called "Dubstep Killed Rock 'n' Roll."

Early Life and Music Beginnings

James was born on April 13, 1990. He loved music from a young age. At 8, he started playing keyboard without lessons. Later, he learned guitar and played in bands.

He got into electronic music while making video games. He wanted to create music for his games. Artists like Alphaverb and Showtek inspired him. He uses a music program called FL Studio to make his songs.

Ephixa's Music Journey

Early Hits (2010-2011)

In 2010, Ephixa released his album called Zelda Step. This album had remixes of songs from The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time. It included "Lost Woods," "Song of Storms," and "Gerudo Valley." He also remixed "Dragon Roost Island" from The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker. Many people liked the album. One reviewer said his "Lost Woods" remix sounded "incredible."

In March 2011, Ephixa released "Charlie Sheen Bi-Winning Dubstep." This remix used parts of an interview with Charlie Sheen. It quickly became super popular on YouTube. In just two days, it had over 700,000 views!

Later in 2011, he remixed "Sanctuary" by Gareth Emery. This remix was part of an album of remixes. A music magazine, DJ Mag, said his remix was "twitchy" and "ok." In November 2011, Ephixa reached number 11 on Billboard's Next Big Sound chart.

Working with Monstercat and a Break (2012-2015)

On August 3, 2012, Ephixa released "Awesome To The Max." Fans of dubstep and Monstercat really liked this song. Later that month, he worked with Varien and Project 46 on "The Anthem." This song celebrated Monstercat's first birthday. Both songs were on Monstercat's Monstercat 009 – Reunion album. They were also on the Best of 2012 album.

In November 2012, Ephixa left Monstercat for a while. He kept releasing music on his own. In 2013, he took a break from making music.

After his break, he released "Catfish" in June 2014. This song brought back his old sound that fans loved. In February 2015, he remixed "Machina" by Dex Arson. Reviewers said his remix was "diverse" and "genre-hopping."

Back to Monstercat and New Music (2016-2017)

In July 2016, Ephixa returned to Monstercat. He worked with Stephen Walking on "Matches." This song was part of Monstercat's 5-year anniversary album. Fans voted for it to be on the Best of 2016 album.

In February 2017, Ephixa teamed up with Laura Brehm for "Losing You." This song was a "beautiful progressive house track." It was also featured on Monstercat's Best of 2017 album.

Ephixa's song "Skyforth" was released in July 2017. It was part of the Rocket League x Monstercat Vol. 1 album. This song was added to the video game Rocket League.

In October 2017, he worked with Laura Brehm again on "Deja Vu." This song had a strong groove and great vocals. In December 2017, Ephixa and Bossfight released "Subside." This song mixed different electronic music styles. It was a "variety of different sounds and styles that somehow fit together perfectly."

Recent Projects (Since 2018)

In August 2018, Ephixa released "Dreamstate" on Monstercat. This song showed a fresh style for him. It was part of the Monstercat Instinct Vol. 2 album.

In June 2019, he worked with Heartful on "Sundance." This synthwave song was also added to the game Rocket League. The next month, he released "Let's Roll" with Going Quantum. He also released "Problems" with Stephen Walking. These songs were part of Monstercat's 8-year anniversary album.

In 2020, Ephixa worked with Half an Orange on "Time Travel Kool Aid." This song was on their album Mostly We Grow Pt. 3.
